Having served as the lead coordinator of Woodland Heights Academy for the past 2.5 years, I am looking forward to the challenge of my new role as PTO President. I've been a part of the Woodland Heights family since 2015.  This year, my daughter Piper moves on to Woodland Heights Middle School for 6th grade, while my son Jack is in 3rd grade.  I grew up in Baltimore, Maryland and am a 2006 graduate of Auburn University, where I met my husband, Conor. We moved to Mooresville from Memphis, Tennessee. After 3 years of serving as a Girl Scout troop leader, I took on the leadership of Woodland Heights Academy.  In both roles, I've enjoyed building relationships with the families and staff of WHE and local businesses within our community, and I feel that those connections will be invaluable in helping me to effectively lead the PTO.  While I am primarily a stay-at-home mom, I also manage our two vacation rental homes in the Smoky Mountains outside of Gatlinburg, Tennessee.  This school year brings an unprecedented set of challenges and I feel fortunate to navigate them alongside a group of very competent women and the skilled leadership of our school.

I am so honored to join the WHES PTO and serve as secretary. My family and I moved to Mooresville from Columbus, Ohio in August of 2021.  My husband and I own a self-storage business and I also work as a part time marketing consultant. I have always loved being involved in the kids’ school and was a volunteer in Ohio as a 4-H advisor, Girls on the Run coach, Girl Scout leader and president of the PTO. I have 3 children; my daughter Lily is at WHMS, my daughter Kate is in 4th grade and my son Nick is in 1st grade. My kids have loved WHES and we are so excited to be hawks.

This is my first year on the Woodland Heights PTO. I am excited to be taking on the role of Communications Director, which includes keeping this website up-to-date.  I am originally from the Rochester, New York area and LOVE Wegmans (the grocery store). My background is in Elementary and Special Education (17 years). Prior to February 2022, I worked for Iredell Statesville Schools Special Education Office as the Compliance Coordinator for 10 years. Currently I work for a national educational consulting company and love it.  My husband Gary and I moved to North Carolina in 2011. Our daughter, Brynn, is in 3rd grade. We settled in the Woodland Heights district because of the school. The administration, staff, teachers, building, grounds, and school/PTO activities are amazing. It really is a family. Go Hawks!!

This is my first full year at Woodland Heights Elementary as we transferred schools in January and then Covid hit. My husband, Christopher, and my two kids, Quinn who is a rising third grader and Easton who is a rising first grader, moved to Huntersville in August 2019 from Iowa. We then found our home and bought in December 2019. We have loved every minute about being in North Carolina and finding a great community. I am primarily a stay at home mom, but love getting involved with my children and I’m excited to serve as fundraising director and work alongside some very strong women.

Co-Staff Appreciation

Hello fellow WHE parents!  I am excited to be serving as co-chair for Staff Appreciation this year along with my good friend, Lauren.  We love to plan special events and are excited to spoil our staff throughout the year!  I am a native North Carolinian, born and raised in Mt. Airy, NC (aka Mayberry). I attended Peace College in Raleigh and UNC-Greensboro, where I received my degree in Elementary Education.  After graduation, I taught in a rural NC public elementary school outside of the Triangle region until our move to Mooresville in 2012.  I have sons in 3rd grade, 1st grade and a preschooler.  In my 3 years as a parent at WHE, I have enjoyed volunteering at the school in many areas both in the classroom and throughout the school.  Last school year, I served as Chair of the Spring Carnival and participated in many other PTO sponsored events.  I am happy to take on a larger role within the PTO and work together with parents and staff to help our school.  In this new role, I am eager to show our love and appreciation to all of the amazing teachers and staff at our wonderful school.  Cheers, y’all, to a fresh new school year!
